Jensen, Donald Francis
Native Emporian Donald Francis Jensen, 72, of New York, N.Y., died Jan. 10, 2004.
Donald Francis Jensen, the son of Ernest and Margaret O'Connor Jensen, was born in Emporia.
He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Wichita Junior High School and graduated from Emporia High School. He graduated from the University of Kansas,
where he was a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. After his military service in the Korean War he moved to New York and attended Columbia University, where he studied scenic art.
Mr. Jensen was a member of United Scenic Artists. His designs were used in many theatrical productions, television shows, commercials and movies. He received the Torch of Hope award for his
contribution to New York theatre.
He is survived by a sister, Rita Jensen of Cottonwood Falls.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in New York City on Jan. 24.
The burial service will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 31 in Sacred Heart Cemetery at Emporia. The Rev. Vincent Krische of Lawrence will
officiate.
