Jewell, Luetta Floreine Small A service celebrating the life
of Luetta Floreine Jewell, 90,
of Strong City was held Dec.
28, 2002, in the First Baptist
Church in Cottonwood Falls.
Pastor Rick Smith conducted
the service. Burial was in
Prairie Grove Cemetery at
Cottonwood Falls. Memorial contributions to
the Chase County Senior

Mrs. Jewell died Dec, 25,
2002, at Morris County
Hospital in Council Grove. She was a homemaker and
a child-care provider.
Luetta Floreine Small, the
daughter of Chester and Lois
Marie David Small, was born
July 23, 1912, in Cherokee,
Okla. She married Lester
Jewell on Nov. 16, 1929, in
Kansas City, Mo. He died earlier.
Mrs. Jewell was a member
of the First Baptist Church in
Cottonwood Falls. Before she
moved to Strong City, she
taught Sunday school and was
a counselor at the Allerton
Baptist Church in Wichita.
She did volunteer work at the
Chase County Senior Center.
She is survived by two
daughters, Marie Coyle of
Strong City and Julia Stamps
of Wichita; two sons, Lester
"Art" Jewell of Wichita and
Tom E. Jewell of Dallas, Texas;
one brother, Ben Small of
Wichita; 10 grandchildren; and
14 great-grandchildren.
An infant brother and a sis-
ter, Thelma, died earlier.
