Kent, Walter"Walt"
Walter "Walt" Kent, 88,
of Tecumseh, Okla., died
Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, in
Tecumseh.
Walter Kent was born in
Bazaar on Aug. 16, 1915,
the son of Frank and Edith
Ann (Garner) Kent.
At age four, he moved
with his family to
Cottonwood Falls where he
grew up and attended
school.
He lived in Arkansas
City working for the Santa
Fe Railroad for 35 years,
retiring in 1980. At that
time he moved to Tecumseh
and lived there ever since.
On March 23, 1973, he
married Rosemary O'Neal
in Tecumseh.
His memberships in
Arkansas City included
Masonic Crescent Lodge
#133, AF & AM, KS &
Eastern Star Victory
Chapter #151; member of
the United Transportation
Union Local #464. He
enjoyed fishing, wrapping
rods and flea markets.
He is survived by his
wife Rosemary; three sons,
Charles Jones of Shawnee,
Brent Jones of Sulphur and
Robert Kent of Texas;
daughter Brenda Caldwell
of Whitesboro, Texas; 10
grandchildren, 10 great-
grandchildren; and numer-
ous friends and family.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; three
brothers, Leonard, Paul
and Wilbur Kent; and a sis-
ter, Elizabeth Morine.
Funeral services were
conducted by Rev. Tracy
Schumpert of the
Broadway United
Methodist Church at the
Cooper Funeral Chapel on
Sept. 26, 2003.
Burial was held at
Brown Cemetery.
Cooper Funeral Home of
Tecumseh was in charge of
arrangements.
