Kirk, Dorothy Leone Conley

Dorothy Leone Kirk, 79, died Oct. 3, 2002, at Holiday Resort in Emporia. Funeral services were Oct. 7, 2002, at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Chapel, in Cottonwood Falls with Pastor James Kegin of Victory Fellowship officiating. Interment was at Matfield Green Cemetery.

Dorothy Leone Conley, daughter of Joe C. and Mattie J. Lindenmuth Conley, was born Dec. 30, 1922, at Beverly. She came to Chase County from Salina where she attend- ed school at Baker and Chase County High School. She grad- uated from Matfield Green High School in 1940.

She mar- ried Harold H. Talkington Dec. 20, 1941, at Wichita. He died in March, 1980. She married Robert Kirk July 12, 1987, at Emporia. She was a homemak- er/farmer in Chase County and was a former member of the Matfield Community Church, serving on the church board for 18 1/2 years before resigning.

Sixteen of those years, she taught children's Sunday School class. She moved to Emporia in 1980 where she worked at Econo Foods and Newman Hospital before retir- ing in 1987. She was a mem- ber of Victory Fellowship, the Antique Car Club, and Retired Railroad Group.

She is survived by her hus- band, of the home; two sons, Ken Talkington of Emporia and Doyle Talkington of Sterling, Va.; four stepsons, Alan Kirk of Wilmington, Del., Norman Kirk of Houston, Texas, Lauren Kirk of El Paso, Texas and J.W. Sidler of Strong City; three stepdaughters, Janet Lobel of Topeka, Kay Kleinsorge of Fort Worth, Texas and Paula Sidler of Houston, Texas; one brother, Doyle Conley of RR 3 Emporia; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her hus- band, Harold, her parents and a sister, Dulie Coplen.

Memorial contributions to Matfield Community Church or Hand-in Hand Hospice may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
