Madden, Minnie Hazel

MRS DENNIS MADDEN DEAD

Relatives and friends here received word Sunday of the death of Mrs. Madden at her home at 1918 Lincoln Street, Topeka. Mrs. Madden's death follows an illness of long duration.

Before her marriage Mrs. Madden was Miss Minnie Hazel. She was raised in this county and was widely known to Chase County people. She was 65 years of age at the time of her death.

Mrs. Madden with her family had lived in Topeka for the past six years. They moved to Topeka from Emporia where they had lived for some time after moving from this county.

Mrs. Madden was born in Ohio, May 20, 1859 and came to Chase County and Cottonwood Falls when she was a girl of seventeen. She was a gold star mother. Corporal Harry Madden, her son, lost his life while fighting with the First division in France.

In addition to her husband, Mr. Madden, she is survived by a daughter, Miss Ellen Madden, Topeka, three sisters, Miss Mary A Hazel and Mrs Mark Anderson, Topeka and Mrs A. G. Harris, Elmdale. and by two brothers, J F Hazel, Chetepa, Kansas; and H A Hazel, Elmdale.

Funeral services were held at Perwell's Chapel, Topeka, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
