Mailand, Mary Mrs. Mary Mailand Dies At Fort Dodge,
Aged Mother of Frank Mailen of Cottonwood Falls Is Buried
Friday.
Mrs. Mary Mailand, 95, the mother of Frank Mailen of Cottonwood Falls, died Wednesday of last week at Fort Dodge. The funeral services were held Friday at Fort Dodge and interment was in the cemetery there. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mailen, Mrs. Dale Allen, Tyson Mailen and John Mailen of Kansas City went from here to the funeral.
Mrs. Mailand had visited her son here a number of times and had a number of acquaintances in Cottonwood Falls. She is survived by three sons, John, of Kansas City, Mo., James of Riverside, Calf., and Frank of Cottonwood Falls.
She was born December 23, 1839, in the county of Wexford, Ireland, and came to the United States when a small child with her parents. She was married to James Mailand in March, 1862. Mr. Mailand served in Company I, 9th Kansas Cavalry during the Civil War from March 20, 1862, to March 20, 1865. Mrs. Mailand travelled with her husband and the company as companion to the captain's wife for about one year. Mr. Mailand died in 1921.
