Martin, Marie Buffington

Marie Martin, 87, formerly of Cottonwood Falls, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at Moorhead Healthcare Center in Moorhead, Minn.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Chapel in Cottonwood Falls, with The Rev. Beverly Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery, rural Cottonwood Falls.

F. Marie Buffington, the daughter of Walter O. and Sophia Warner Buffington, was born March 9, 1918, at Newton. She and George H. Martin were married Sept. 10, 1935, at Burlington. He died April 6, 1994, in Cottonwood Falls.

They lived in Kansas, Colorado and Arizona before returning to Cottonwood Falls in 1987. In Oct. of 2003, Marie moved to Moorhead, Minn., where she was a resident of Moorhead Healthcare Center. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Robertson, Moorhead, Minn.; a sister, Bonnie Wahrle, Pueblo, Colo.; two brothers, Robert "Sandy" Buffington, Tucson, Ariz. and Jim Buffington, Pueblo, Colo.; ten grand-children; 21 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Donald and Harold Martin; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Marjorie Buffington; and a brother, Walter O. Buffington.
