Maybell, Frank Napoleon 52-YEAR RESIDENT OF COUNTY IS DEAD
Frank N Maybell Passes at the home of his Daughter, Mrs G E Hailey, Monday
Frank N Maybell of Hymer died Monday afternoon at 6:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G E Hailey, after sickness of a month. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church in Elmdale. The Rev. Mr. Henry Delevan, a close friend of Mr. Maybell, was in charge of the services. Interment was in the Elmdale cemetery.
A quartet, composed of Mrs. Howard Stone, Mrs. D H Childs, D A Macalpine, and Will Schneider, sang three songs. The pall-bearers were J E Bocook of Cottonwood Falls, E J Gamer, William Hailey, D L Crawford, and W E Thompson of Elmdale, and Nels Eland of Hymer.
Mr. Maybell is a long-time resident of this county, he having lived on Middle and Diamond Creeks 52 years. Most of the time the Maybells have lived on Diamond Creek. He became sick a month ago and soon later was taken to the home of his daughter where he remained until his death.
Surviving him are his widow, seven daughters, and two sons, besides a number of other relatives and friends. The daughters are: Mrs. C B Connacher of Strong City, .........Mrs Howard Johnson of Eldorado, Mrs G E Hailey of Hymer., and Mrs. William Butefish of Tulsa, and Mrs. Vern Brant of Cottonwood Falls. The two sons are R K Maybell of Cottonwood Falls and Bruce E Maybell of Emporia.
Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Mrs. I N Hudson, Lewis Hudson, Mr and Mrs Oran Murphy of Emporia; Miss Beth Pinnick, Mason Pinnick, Leonard Pinnick, of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs Frank Pinnick of Salina, and G C Myers of Waynokia, Okla.
Friends from out of town were: Mr and Mrs J I Mitchell, Mr and Mrs. Roy Hudson, Allen Pickett, Mrs. Mont Pickett, Mrs Fay Mitchell of Americus, Mrs Carl Barr and Mrs. Frank Barr of Diamond Springs, and Mr and Mrs G C Stone of Wilsey.
OBITUARY
Frank Napoleon Maybell was born Jan 10 1854 at Syracuse, New York., and died at Hymer, Kansas, Nov 14 1927, age 73 years, 10 months, and 4 days.
At two years of age he moved with his parents to Portsmouth, Ohio, where he grew to manhood. He moved to Chase county, Kansas, in 1875 and has lived here since that time. He was united in marriage to Sarah Lorraine Myers at Matfield Green, Nov 29, 1878. To this union 10 children were born. One grown son, Charles Maybell, died in 1908.
He was united with the Christian church in 1887 and chose that faith throughout his life. He was a good husband and father, a kind and obliging neighbor.
