McClean, George F
MENINGITIS FATAL TO GEORGE F MCCLEAN
George F McClean of this city, died at the Santa Fe hospital in Topeka this morning, following an illness of about two weeks. Mr. McClean suffered an influenza attack and this developed into brain fever. He was taken to the Santa Fe hospital last Saturday. Mrs. McClean was with him at the time of his death. The funeral will be held at the Brown Funeral Home Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in Prairie Grove cemetery.
Mr. McClean was born March 6th 1871 at Basco, Illinois. He spent most of his life there until after his marriage to Miss Aza Russell which took place July 31st 1898. Mr and Mrs McClean were the parents of four children, two of whom are living. The McClean family moved to Kansas twenty-eight years ago, first going to Hodgeman county where he engaged in farming and the livestock business. They came to this city fourteen years ago. Since that time he has been an employee of the Santa Fe. During the past eight years, Mr. and Mrs McClean have owned the Trail Cafe here which was operated by Mrs. McClean and her daughter, Mrs. Esther Smalley.
He leaves two daughters who are Mrs. Harry Hager and Mrs. Esther Smalley. He also leaves seven grandchildren and three brothers who are Chas. McClean of Quincy, Illinois; Sam McClean of Hanston, Kansas and Tom McClean of Clay Center, Kansas.
