Hattie Pearl McCracken Heathman

Hattie Pearl McCracken Heathman passed away at the Chase County Nursing Center last Saturday evening, December 20. Funeral services were conducted from the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 23. The Rev. Larry Bowyer officiated with Delores Long and Susan Alexander ministering the music. Christmas music was used for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Tom Heathman, Donnie Heathman, Frank Gaddie, Elden Kirk, John McCabe, and Tom McCabe.

Hattie Pearl McCracken was born to Joseph Henry and Laura Geer McCracken in Matfield Green on September 1, 1894. She married Herman LeRoy Heathman on May 17, 1911, in Bazaar. He preceded her in death in 1961. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Bazaar.

Surviving are five sons: Easter Heathman of Matfield Green, Vaden Heathman of Derby, Donald Heathman of Boonville, Ark., Junior and Dean Heathman, both of Oklahoma. She also leaves a sister, Mary Peck, of Cottonwood Falls. Also, twenty grandchildren and several great grandchildren survive.

She was preceded in death by he parents, husband, and three brothers. Clarence, Joe, and Frank McCracken and five sisters, Minnie and Doris McCracken in infancy, and Mable Hanson, Winnie McCabe, and Lorene Hall. The Heathman family suggested memorial contribution to the Bazaar United Methodist Church in care of the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home.

Brown, Mr. and Mrs. James R. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Windsor, Mr. and Mrs. Abram Thut.

"Hattie P. Heathman

Cottonwood Falls -- Mrs. Herman L. Heathman of Cottonwood Falls died Saturday at the Chase County Nursing Center. Mrs. Heathman, a homemaker, was a lifetime resident of Chase County.

Hattie Pearl McCracken was born at Matfield Green on Sept. 1, 1894, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Laura Geer McCracken. She and Herman LeRoy Heathman were married May 17, 1911, at Bazaar. He died in 1961.

Three brothers, Clarence, Joe, and Frank McCracken, and five sisters, Minnie McCracken, Doris McCracken, Mabel Hansen, Winnie McCabe, and Lorene Hall, died earlier. Mrs. Heathman is survived by five sons, Easter Heathman of Matfield Green, Vaden Heathman of Derby, Donald Heathman of Booneville, Ark., and Junior Heathman and Dean Heathman, both in Oklahoma; a sister, Mary Peck of Cottonwood Falls; 20 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home. The Rev. Larry Bowyer will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Bazaar Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church at Bazaar. Contributions may be sent to the funeral home.
