McCracken, Laura C. Geer

Mrs. J. H. McCracken, 87, of Bazaar, who had been a resident of Chase county many years, died Tuesday in the Conklin Rest Home, Strong City, where she had been a patient about six months. Mrs. McCracken had been remarkably active and maintained her own home until a little over a year ago when her health started to fail.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o�clock Thursday afternoon at the Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Brown of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in the Matfield Green Cemetery.

Laura Greer (sic) daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Geer, was born March 15, 1873 in Cowley county, Kans., and died December 20, 1960.

She attended the schools of Greenwood county and was united in marriage to Joseph Henry McCracken in November 1891. They lived their married life in the Matfield Green and Bazaar communities. Mr. McCracken died August 21, 1933 at Bazaar.

Surviving Mrs. McCracken are three sons, Clarence of Bazaar, Joseph of Shawnee, Okla., and Frank of Rocky Ford, Colo.; four daughters, Mrs. Lee McCabe of Elmdale; Mrs. Roy Heathman of Matfield Green, Mrs. Bert Hall of Central Africa, and Mrs. Raymond Peck of Matfield Green; one brother, Oscar Geer of El Dorado; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Minnie and Doris McCracken and Mrs. Ted Hanson; one brother, Clarence Geer, two sisters, Myrtle Geer and Nora Watchous. Mrs. McCracken was a member of the Methodist Church.�

�Mrs. J.H. McCracken Dead -- Bazaar - Mrs. J.H. McCracken died Tuesday in Strong City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, in the Brown Funeral Home, Cottonwood Falls, conducted by the Rev. Harold Brown, pastor of the cottonwood Falls Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Matfield Green Cemetery.

Laura Geer, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Geer, was born March 15th, 1873, in Cowley County.

She attended the Greenwood schools and was married to Joseph Henry McCracken in November 1891, in Matfield Green. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Aug. 21st, 1933, in Bazaar; and by three daughters, Minnie, Doris, and Mrs. Ted Hanson; one brother, Clarence Geer, and two sisters, Nora Matchous and Myrtle Geer; and is survived by three sons, Joseph, Shawnee, Okla., Frank, Rocky Ford, Colo., and Clarence; four daughters Mrs. Lee McCabe, Elmdale, Mrs. Roy Heathman, and Mrs. Reynold Peck, Matfield Green, and Mrs. Bert Hall, Banbari, Central Africa; one brother, Oscar Geer, Eldorado; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.�
