McDowell, Isabel MRS. ISABEL McDOWELL lS DEAD
Mrs. Isabel McDowell, a resident of this county for almost half a century, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Clements, west of this city Monday morning at the age of 97 years, following a long illness which had extended over many weeks.
The deceased who was born in Ireland came to America in the year 1841, and emigrated to Chase County, Kansas, in 1871. At the time of her death, she was the oldest woman in this county. Three children by whom she is survived living in this county are C. C. McDowell and Mrs. W. W. Sanders, of this city, and Mrs. Robert Clements, west of this place.
The funeral services were held at the Clements home at 10:00 o'clock Wednesday morning, Rev. Mayo, pastor of the Presbyterian church, preaching the sermon, after which interment was made in Prairie Grove cemetery.
Because of her long residence here and because she was beloved by all who know her, her death brings great regret.
