McLinden, Virgil L "Bud" Virgil L. "Bud" McLinden,
87, of Marion, died Dec. 22,
2002, in Marion Manor,
Marion.
Virgil L. McLinden, the son
of John J. and Katharine
Flueler McLinden, was born
April 1, 1915, at Cedar Point. He married Roseva Melson,
of Burns, on April 8, 1940, in
St. Patrick's Church of
Florence.
Bud was a rancher and live
stock caretaker all his life. He
and Roseva lived on the ranch
north of Florence for 59 years.
In 1999 they moved to Marion,
but Bud continued to oversee
the ranching operation.
He was a member of Holy
Family Parish, St. Patrick's
Catholic Church, Florence
Knights of Columbus, Kansas
Livestock Association, the
Kansas Quarter Horse Assn.
and founding member of the
Cottonwood Valley Saddle
Horse Assn.
He is survived by his wife of
the home; one son, Richard L.
(Dick) McLinden of Marion;
sister, Lucille C. McLinden of
Denver, Co.; two grandchil
dren, Charles "Chuck"
McLinden of Marion and
Susan C. Morton of Olathe;
and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Dec. 25,
2002, at Holy Family Parish,
St. Patrick's Catholic Church,
in Florence, Fr. Steve Gronert
officiated. Burial was in
Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence. Memorials may be made to the Holy Family Parish. St Patrick's Catholic Church, American Cancer Society or Girl Scout Council of the Flint Hills.
