Mead, Florence Anderegg Florence (Anderegg) Mead, 98, of Garnett died Oct. 7, 2001 at a Garnett Hospital.
She was born Nov. 6, 1902, in DuBois, Neb. She graduated from Garnett High School and then Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg in 1937. She was a teacher for 30 years and taught in several schools including Garnett, Seneca and Cottonwood Falls (1948-1951). She also taught 10 years in Charlotte and McAllen Texas. She lived in Texas for 35 years before she returned to Garnett.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Garnett and an Order of Eastern Star Chapter in Texas. She married Daniel Carrol Mead on June 1, 1951, in Garnett. He preceded her in death, also a stepson, Lloyd Mead, and a step-daughter, Lois Mead Lewis.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Starit, Richmond; two stepdaughters, Mary Lou Horsburgh, Mesa, Ariz., and Beulah Llewleyn, Las Vegas, five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Services were held, Oct. 11 at First United Methodist Church in Garnett. Burial was in New Lancaster Cemetery, southeast of Paola.
