Meade, Louise Elizabeth

The funeral services for Mrs. Louise Elizabeth Meade who died at the Meade home, 320 South Sylvan, Emporia, Wednesday, Jun 22, were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock after which intermnent was made in Maplewood cemetery. The Rev. W S Dado, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Emporia, conducted the service.

Mrs. Meade was the mother of Mrs Lyla Cox, of Matfield Green, and was a sister-in-law of Mrs. E R Beedle, of this city. She had been an invalid for many months. Mr. Meade, a brother of Mrs. E R Beedle is well know in this area as he has worked from time to time as a carpenter.

Mrs Meade was born Jun 28, 1874, in Albany, New York. Her maiden name was Louise Elizabeth Patten. She came to Kansas with her parents when she was six months old. Her mother died nine years later and she lived with Mr and Mrs W G Patten until her marriage Aug 12 1903 to Sylvester R Meade at Parsons. Mrs. Meade attended the Teachers college in 1897 and 1898 and later taught music in the schools at Fowler, where she and Mr. Meade lived.
