Mealey, John P JOHN P MEALEY DEAD
Funeral Services for Saffordville Man are held Sunday Afternoon
John P Mealey, who lived one-half mle south of Saffordville, died Thursday night at the Newman Memorial Hospital in Emporia. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Saffordville and interment was in Prairie Grove cemetery in Cottonwood Falls. Rev. A H Christensen, pastor of the Methodist church at Saffordville conducted the services.
John Mealey was bon June 15 1868 in Pennsylvania. He came to Kansa in 1879 and lived at Council Grove. In 1880 he moved to Cottonwood Falls. His last home was on a farm, a half mile south of Saffordville to which he moved in 1916. John Mealey is survived by six sisters, Mrs. Effie Wilson of Cottonwood Falls; Mrs Libbie Gammell of Council Grove; Mrs. Phoebe Woodward of Strong City; Mrs. Minnie Plummer of Saffordville; Mrs. Ollive Crouch of Cottonwood Falls; and Miss Grace Mealey of Strong City; and three brothers, George H Mealey of Saffordville, Fred Mealey of Colorado Springs, and Frank Mealey of Delivale.
