Meierhoff, Fred

Funeral services for Fred Meierhoff, who died at the Halstead hospital Friday, Aug 10th, was held at the Youngtown church Monday afternoon, Aug. 13th. Interment was made in the Youngtown cemetery.

Mr. Meierhoff was 55 years of age He was engaged in farming and the livestock business and had lived practically all his life in Marion and Chase counties. His death was due to heart trouble, and he had been ill much of the time during the past year.

Mr. Meierhoff is survived by five children who are Mrs. Edith Druse, of Marion, Kansas; Ernest Meierhoff, of Clements; Rhine Meierhoff, of Matfield Green; Cecil Meierhoff and Arthur Meierhoff, both of Marion county. Mr. Meierhoff was living at Antelope, Marion county before his death.

Following is the obituary which was read at his funeral which briefly covers his life.

Frederic Meierhoff was born in Madison Comity, Illinois, Oct. 19, 1878, the son of Joseph and Minnie Meierhoff and departed this life at the Halstead Hospital, Aug. I0, 1934 at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 22 days.

He came to Kansas as a small boy and located near Antelope. He grew to manhood here and began farming in Grant township. He was united in marriage to Mathilda Kaltman, March 18, 1902, who preceded him in death, March 10, 1923. To this union were born five children, four boys and one girl, Arthur, Edith, Ernest, Rinnie and Cecil. He was always a devoted father having to serve in the capacity of both father and mother since the loss of his companion. He always looked at the bright aide of things and no matter how many burdens of his own he had to carry he was always ready with a smile and cheerful word for others. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith March 29, 1896 at Lincolnville, Kansas.

He leaves to mourn their great loss his children Arthur of Marion, Mrs. M. F. Druse of Marion; Ernest of Clements, Rinnie of Matfield Green and Cecil of the home, four grandchildren, Betty Anna Druse, Donald Ray, Donnie jay, and Connie' Gay Meierhoff; one brother, Charles, Meierhoff of Marion.

He also leaved four half brothers and three half sisters living in this` end Marion counties and at other points.
