Mercer, Alfred Charles Obituary.
Alfred Charles Mercer was born Nov. 1
1, at Homestead, Chase county, Kansas, died Nov. 12, 1910, at Florence, Marion county, Kansas. He was a birthright member of the Homestead Monthly Meeting of Friends and died in the Christian faith.
Alfred suffered so much the last week of his death but was patient through it all. Blood poison caused his death. Alfred asked that if be had wronged anybody, he might have that ones pardon, He said that be loved everybody and thanked all for their kindness to him, Tell the boys he had often been called to a better life but had not heeded and he earnestly warned them not to neglect the call that would come to them, that they might meet him on the other shore.
The body was brought to his home at Homestead Saturday night. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. Isaac Fitts of Rose Hill, Butler county, Kansas, assisted by Earle Delay of Emporia, Kansas. Many were the ex pressions of sympathy. The casket was covered with flowers. Interment was have in the Homestead cemetery.
