Mercer, David W

FORMER MATFIELD GREEN RESIDENT DEAD

David W. Mercer, former well known resident of Matfleld Green, died at his home at 523 Funston St., Emporia, Saturday evening, June 24, where he and his family had lived In recent years.

Mr, Mercer was born Nov. 11th., 1865 in Matfield Green. He lived there until 1900 when he and his family moved to Emporia. Mr. Mercer had been married twice. He leaves six sons and one daughter, William Mercer, Roy Mercer, David W Mercer, Charles A. and Orville Mercer, all of Emporia and Clarence Mercer, of Hutcinson and Miss Emma M. Mercer, of Emporia.

He also leaves three brothers, George A. Mercer, of Matfield Green, William and John Mercer, of Wichita.

Tom Mercer, of this city, and Dave Mercer, of Matfield Green, and Wm. Mercer, of Homestead, are cousins.

Until he and his family moved to Emporia in 1909 Mr. Mercer had Iived practically all his life in Matfield Green and vicinity.
