Miller, Hugh M

CONCERNING HUGH M MILLER

Death of Hugh M. Miller of Wonsevu in the southwest part of this county brings regret to his many friends and neighbors. Mr. Miller had resided in this county for the past ten years. He had been in failing health, for several months and had been in the Axtell Hospital at Newton for sometime, his death occurring there on June 19th.

Previous to his death his wife had been very ill for some weeks and had only recently returned from a hospital herself. Mr. Miller was 66 years of age at the time of his death.

The deceased was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Miller and was born in Bedford county, Penn., on January 19, 1858. At the age of twelve years he was bereft of his father and from then on made his home with relatives until he was a man grown.

In 1878 he came to Kansas and located in Clay county. In 1883 he married Anna Miller and moved to Summit township in Marion county. Here three children were born to them; Albert W. now residing at Great Bend, Morton W. of Montezuma, and Mrs. Minnie Montzumer of Fairview, Okla, In 1892 his wife preceded him to the better land.

In 1896 Mr. Miller married Mrs. Hayes and to this union were born three children; Mrs. Verna Kelshammer of Florence, Lavina, who died when about a year old, and Mrs Flora Pinon of Eldorado. In 1910 he was bereft of his second wife.

In 1914 Mr. Miller was married to Mrs Margaret Jernagan and the next year they moved to the place .just south of Wonsevu in Chase county which was his home at the time of his death.
