Miser, Franklin Pierce TWO FUNERALS AT ELMDALE IN ONE DAY.
July the Fourth was a sad day in Elmdale. Two of Chase county's old settlers were laid to rest on that date.
The funeral of W. O. Thurston whose obituary appears in another part of this paper took place and also the funeral of Franklin Pierce Miser was held,
Mr, Miser was born in Holmes county, Ohio, May 1, 1846, departed this life Jul 3, 1918, at his home at Diamond Springs, Kansas. He was 72 Years, two months and two days old.
He was united in marriage to Anna Sameller Stewart at Kokomo, Tipton county, Indiana. To their union were born ten children, two having preceeded him, Cleminal in infancy and Samuel 27 days hence.
He leaves a wife, eight children, four sons and four daughters to mourn his loss. The children are William Henry, Mrs. Savilla May Porter, Margaret Ellen, Carl Frank, Mrs. Myrtle Dove Whittington, Earl Tim, CoraJane and Guy Pearl. The body was brought to Elmdale for burial on Thursday afternoon. Rev. H. E. Wells pastor of the Methodist church,
preaching the sermon. A number of Masons from Cottonwood Falls also were in attendance using the Masonic burial service at the grave.
