Montgomery, Margaret Clark Gray

Mrs. John Montgomery, Sr, Dead. Mrs John Montgomery, Sr., died Sunday morning at 3 o�clock at the home of her son, Harry Montgomery, 428 South Market. Funeral arrangements are being delayed, pending the arrival of relatives from out of town. Mrs. Montgomery was suddenly taken sick Christmas. She returned to Emporia December 7 after visiting for the past eight months with relatives in Canada.

Margaret Clark Gray was born at Birkenwood, Scotland, March 11, 1859. She lived at Birkenwood until after her marriage to John Montgomery, June 26, 1877. Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery came to Kansas in July 1879. Mr. Montgomery died March 1, 1921.

Mrs. Montgomery was a member of the church all her life. Since she had been in Kansas she was a member of the church at Cottonwood Falls.

Mrs. Montgomery is survived by four sons, James Montgomery, of Blackie, Alberta, Canada; John, Harry and Drew, all of Emporia; four daughters, Mrs. D. D. Stewart, of Blackie, Canada; Miss Katherine Montgomery, of Paso Robles, Calif.; Miss Margaret Montgomery, of Portland, Ore.; And Miss Agnes Montgomery, of Emporia; eight grandchildren; two brothers, John Gray and Andrew Gray, who live in Scotland, and one sister, Mrs. Robert Downie of Scotland.
