Murdock, Samuel
Samuel Murdock was born in Randolph County, North Carolina, Feb 15 1818 and died Nov 12, 1908 at the home of his son, J H Murdock, of Peyton Creek, where he has lived since 1900.
He came to Kansas and to Chase County in 1859 with his wife and three sons. His wife died March 7 1875 and he is survived by his three sons; J H Murdock of Saffordville, with whom he lived; W T Murdock of Alva, Okla.; and J T Murdock of Camp Verde, Arizona.
Grandfather Murdock was typical of the early settlers of Kansas. He was rugged and honest and fearless and believed in the West. He lived a sincere christian life and at the grand age of four score and ten years at the end of an active life of helpfulness, he died in peace.
