Murphy, Gary Howard Gary Howard Murphy, 62, of Olathe died Monday Feb. 20, 2006, at his home.
The son of George W. and Dorothy Moore Murphy, he was born March 23, 1943,
on a farm north
of LeRoy.
He attended
grade school and high school in LeRoy. His family moved to Eureka during his senior year, where he graduated in 1961. He attended Allen County Community College and Wichita State University.
He married Zee Daly in Yates Center May 21, 1965. He owned and operated
Kansas Grain and LeRoy Lumber in LeRoy; Murphy Grain, Topeka; MSM Racing, Wichita; and Murphy Grain Company, Colony.
He served in the Kansas National Guard from 1964 until 1970. He had been a member of the Burlington Country Club; F 0 E 3577 in Burlington; Iola Revelers; and Allen County Country Club.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Carey Stubblefield, O'Fallon, Mo., Kelly Boule, Overland Park and Christine Bland, Gardner;
two brothers, Doug Murphy, Haven and Dennis Murphy, Strong City; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Dale.
The funeral service was Thursday, Feb. 23, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola. Rev. Quentin Jones officiated and burial was in LeRoy Cemetery.
