North, Mildred Irene Sweet
MiIdred I North, 92, died Sunday, Nov 26, 2006, at the Holiday Resort in Emporia. A celebration of
service will be held Friday Dec. 1, at 10 am at the Saffordville United Methodist Church with The Rev Beverly Meadows and The Rev Nancy Harris-Ott co-officiating. An Order of Eastern Star Service will follow with burial in the Hillside Cemetery at Toledo Township.
Mildred Irene Sweet, the daughter of John and Mabell Brown Sweet, was born Dec 15, 1913, at
Stuart. Neb. She attended and graduated, with a Bachelor of Science in Education, from Bethel College at Newton. She taught in an elementary school for six years then taught high school home economics at Hugoton and Moundridge for three years at each school.
She married Stanley North Aug 14, 1948, in Newton. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2000.
She was a member of Saffordville United Methodist Church and was in the United Methodist
Women organization. She was 67-year member of Order of the Eastern Star and of the Falls Chapter.
She is survived by a son, William "Bill" North of
Cottonwood, two step-daughtes, Jeannine Cooper of Saffordville and Corinne Wilson of Emporia eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Percy, Arthur
Clarence, Herbert and Linford Sweet.
