Odle, Harold D Harold D. Odle, 72, died Friday, June 21, 2002, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia. A Celebration of His Life was held June 25, 2002, in the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls with the Rev. Eldon Cox of Sedgwick United Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed in the Homestead Cemetery.
Harold D. Odle was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Simpson, Kan., to Albert and Daisy Deering Odle. He married Bernice L. Steadman on June 1, 1950, in Cottonwood Falls. Mr. Odle was a cattleman/rancher most of his life in the Homestead Community. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Russell Blackburn Post #123 in Strong City.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice of the home; two sons, Jerrold Odle of Cedar Point, and Jack Odle of Birmingham, Ala.; one daughter, Julaine Griffin of Snellville, Ga.; one sister, June Smith of Terra Haute, Ind.; five granchildren and two great-grandchildren. He ws preceeded in death by two daughters, Janna Gail Odle and Jody Ann Odle Berry and one brother, John Odle. Memorials are suggested to the Homestead Cemetery Association or Hope Lodge in Kansas City.
