MRS. EMMA PAYNE DEAD
Mrs. Emma Payne, of Clements, died last Saturday, after an illness which had extended over several weeks. The funeral was held at the Clements church Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, Rev Mayo, of this city, preaching the sermon, after which interment was made in the Clements cemetery.
Mrs. Payne was 71 years of age and had been a resident of Clements for a good many years. She leaves many relatives and friends to mourn her death.

Emma A. (CRAWFORD) PAYNE, was born 14 January 1849, in Ohio, the daughter of Joseph L. CRAWFORD SR. and Amy (COLUMBIA) CRAWFORD. She was married 18 November 1868 at her parents� residence in Chase Co. to Jacob PAYNE.
They had three children: Gordon G., Edith and Oscar Scott PAYNE.
Emma A. (CRAWFORD) PAYNE died 5 June 1920, in Clements, Chase Co., Kansas, and was buried in Clements Cemetery, in Clements, Chase Co., Kansas.
