Pearcy, Aileen

E. Aileen Pearcy, 77, former of Wamego, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cottonwood Falls.

She was born Nov. 25, 1926, in the Pleasant Run Community near Westmoreland, the daughter of Lester R. and Effie M. Woodcock Campbell. She attended elementary school at King Rural School in Pottawatomie County and attended Overland Park High School, graduating in 1944. She attended St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Manhattan and was a registered nurse in the Navy Cadet Nurse's Corp during WWII. She returned to northeast Kansas and spent her life working as a nurse in the Tonganoxie, Lawrence and Wamego areas.

She married Claude L. Pearcy in 1972, in Lawrence. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church since moving to Cottonwood Falls.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Dan Hubbell of Wichita; three daughters, Claudia Wilch, Indianapolis, Ind., Pam Moody, Topeka and Tanya Johnson, Cottonwood Falls; two sisters, Julia Adams, Manhattan and Lorna Campbell, Wamego; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters and one brother.

Graveside services were March 13, 2004, at Admantha Cemetery near Flush. Pastor Rick Smith officiated. There will be a memorial service at the Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center on March 26, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The Aileen Pearcy Memorial, to be designated later, and sent in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
