Madison native.. Elnora
Schroer Phillips, 86, died
Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at a
nursing home in Lebanon, Ill.
The funeral was Jan. 28,
2003, at the Wilson Funeral
Home in Madison. The Rev.
Bob Robison officiated. Burial
was at Grant Township
Cemetery, east of Marion.
Mrs. Phillips was born Sept.
24, 1916, in Marion, to William
and L. Pearl Sampson Fox.
She moved to the Madison
community from Winchester in
1957 and to Illinois in 2000.
She married John Schroer
on July 25, 1936, in
Cottonwood Falls. He,died
Jan. 9, 1975. She married Joe
Phillips on April 29, 1977, in
Gridley. He died June 8, 1981.
Her survivors include a son,
John W. Schroer Jr. of
Springfield, Mo.; and three
daughters, Viola Ohlemeier of
O'Fallon, Ill., Vera Hayes of
Springfield and Dorothy
Cummings of Worthington,
Minn,; four sisters, Roselma
Griggs of Hutchinson, Lillie
Lower and Mildred Rhoads,
both of Topeka and Lucille
Osgood of Middleton, Idaho.
Two sisters, Myrtle Thut
and Minnie Goodell and two
infant brothers died earlier.
Mrs. Phillips, a homemaker,
had worked as office manager
at John's Garage in Madison.
Her memberships included St.
Michael's Episcopal Church in
O'Fallon, First Christian
Church in Madison, the Gravel
Hill Club, Madison Senior
Citizens and Rebekah Lodge in
Madison.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial
contributions in her name to the First
Christian Church or the
American Cancer Society, sent
in care of the funeral home,
