Pinkston, Carl R Carl R. Pinkston, 97, formerly of Cedar Point and Strong City, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006,
at Holiday
Resort in
Emporia.
Carl R.
Pinkston, the son of Arthur and Sophia Lutt Pinkston, was born Dec. 24, 1908, at Cedar Point. He and Ethel Pauline Payton were married July 30, 1936, at Newton. She died Jan. 31, 2001.
He was a carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII and was a member of the V F.W. in Marion and the American Legion in Florence.
He is survived by extended family. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert "Bob" Pinkston, Floyd "Coon" Pinkston and John "Bat" Pinkston and a niece, Irene States.
A graveside service was
held Saturday, July 8, at Strong City Cemetery and officiated by The Rev. John Hastings of Strong City United Methodist Church. Military Honors were con-ducted by a Fort Riley Honor Guard. Cremation had taken place.
