Potter, Fred D.
Fred D. Potter, 80, died Friday, March 21, 2008, at his daughter�s home in rural Cottonwood Falls.
Fred Dean Potter, the son of William Arthur and Clara Elizabeth Archer Potter, was born
March 25, 1927, at Florence Kan.
He and Marjorie Louise Thornton were married Sept. 5, 1945, at Council Grove. She died Feb. 15, 2002.
He served in the United States Army. He was a truck driver for Yellow Freight before his retirement in 1991. He worked as a ranch hand on several ranches in Chase County. He was a Baptist. He was a member of Teamsters #795 Union.
He is survived by four sons, Gary D. Potter of Emporia, Donald W. Potter and David L. Potter, both of Dallas, Texas and F. Douglas Potter of Burbank, Okla.; five daughters, Sheryle L. Baker of Vero Beach, Fla., Nancy L. Weikle of Tyron, Okla., Rhonda K. Reyer of Cottonwood Falls, Debra D. Schroer of Strong City and M. Denise Bradshaw of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, Lee Potter of Harveyville, Bob Potter of Tonganoxie and Rich Potter of Strong City; one sister, Esther Christlieb of Newport News, Va.; 27 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, David Potter, II; six brothers, Bill Potter, Carl Potter, Webb Potter, Gene Potter, Les Potter and John Potter; and three sisters, Letha Applegate, Elrene Cook and Marie Turner.
The service was held Tuesday, March 25, at the Flint Hills Community Church in Cottonwood Falls with The Rev. Wayne Hett officiating. Interment followed in Prairie Grove Cemetery in rural Cottonwood Falls.
