Ransford-Zimmerman, Mary Delilia Featherkile

Mrs. Mary Zimmerman died at her home in this city last Wednesday, March 24th, 1926 following a long illness. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the home after which interment was made in the Prairie Grove Cemetery west of the city. Rev. R. L. South, pastor of the Methodist Church, preached the sermon.

Mrs. Zimmerman whose maiden name was Delilia Featherkile was born Aug 18 1846 in Vigo County, Indiana. She was 79 years of age at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to Cameran Ransford in Indiana at the age of 18 years.

To this union five children were born, four of whom survive. A little daughter died in infancy. The other children are Jim and Joe Ransford, of this city; Roy Ransford, of Newton, and Mrs. Martha Moore, of Galena, Kansas. Besides these Mrs. Zimmerman also leaves eighteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. One brother, Albert Featherkile and one sister Edna Wilson both of Terre Haute, Indiana survive.

Mrs. Zimmerman's first husband died Nov. 24th 1889. On Feb. 12th 1893 she married John Zimmerman whose death occurred several years ago. (John Zimmerman died Sept 21 1897.)

Mrs. Zimmerman united with the Baptist Church when but a girl while her family lived in Indiana and she remained a member until her death.

In 1872 the family moved to Kansas, first settling near Florence in Marion county. They moved to Chase County 49 years ago and this county had since been their home. Mrs. Zimmerman was a kind and loving mother and had the friendship of all who knew her.
