Reber, Fred Peterson

Fred Peterson Reber, 76, of Emporia died, Nov. 27, 2002, at his home. Mr. Reber was an engineer with the Santa Fe Railroad for 39 years before he retired in 1986. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Fred Peterson Reber, son of John Jacob and Ellen Peterson Reber, was born April 22, 1926, in Chase County. He married Maxine Foth on Jan. 25, 1948, at Emporia. They were divorced. He married Mary Lane on Oct. 17, 1967, at Emporia.

Mr. Reber was a member of Rural Water District 4 for 15 years and chairman for four years. He also was a member of the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Fred Robert Reber and Ronald Ray Reber, both of Emporia; a daughter, Karen Jean Brock of Admire; a step- son, Daryn Lane of Emporia; three stepdaughters, Vicki Reber and Glenda Sunter, both of Emporia, and Brenda Milam of Olathe; a brother, Loren Reber of Ellsworth;. a sister, Shirley Graham of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. One son Terry Lee Reber, died earli- er.

The funeral was Dec. 2 in the Roberts -Blue-Barnett Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Steve Graham of Lee's Summit, Mo., conducted the service. Burial was in the Lincoln Cemetery at Lebo.
