Carrie "Nell" Baker-
Rufener, 61, died Saturday,
Oct. 25, 2003, at her home.
A Celebration of Life
Service was conducted Oct.
28, 2003, at the Brown-
Bennett-Alexander
Funeral Home, Cottonwood
Falls. The Rev. John
Hastings officiated.
Interment was at Prairie
Grove Cemetery,
Cottonwood Falls.
Carrie Nellora Clark,
the daughter of Albert
Eugene and Violet Lucille
Soles Clark, was born June
29, 1942, at Coffeyville. She
was previously married to
Charles Varelman and
Russell Baker. Both marriages ended in divorce.
She and Clifford Rufener
were married Aug. 19,
2001, in Strong City.
She managed the "Flint
Hills One Stop," in Strong
City for 25 years.
She is survived by her
husband, of the home; two
sons, Dennis Varelman of
Strong City and Thomas
Varelman of Brush, Colo.;
three daughters, Nellora Sue
Parker, Nancy Lorainne
Ramirez and Karen Denise
Childears all of Emporia; two
brothers, Ronnie Clark of
South Coffeyville, Okla. and
Earl Tallman of Aurora,
Colo.; five sisters, Janie
Foga, Cora Tharp, and
Wilma Snapp all of Topeka,
Pam Lewis of Strong City
and Dianne Irey of Las
Vegas, Nev.; and thirteen
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant
daughter, Vickie Sue
Varelman.
