Shaft, Metha A Paulsen
Metha A. Shaft, 95, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at the Riverview Estates in Marquette.
The daughter of Danish immigrants, she was born Nov. 9, 1912, at St. Edwards, Neb. Her parents died when she was four or five years old and she was sent to live with an uncle and his family. There are no records available to provide the names of her parents.
She married Henry B. Shaft on June 2, 1935, at Elmdale. He died Nov. 1, 1971. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the
First Christian Church in McPherson. She also was a member of Falls Chapter 25 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Cottonwood Falls.
She is survived by one son, Gary D. Shaft of McPherson; two sisters, Hansine Emmons of Pleasant Valley, Mo. and Ruth Brookshire of Amarillo, Texas; three grandchildren; one step-grandson; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, John Dwayne Shaft and Ronald Burton Shaft.
Services were held Saturday, Dec. 15, in the church at Elmdale Cemetery in rural Elmdale. The Rev. Pat Ireland conducted the service. Burial was in Elmdale Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Riverview Estates in Marquette or the First Christian Church in McPherson may be sent in care of the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls.
