Sharp, Nancy Mrs Died, February 13th, 1885, in the 72d year of her age, Nancy Sharp. Mrs. Sharp was born in Anderson Co., Tennessee. In 1855, herself, husband and family bade farewell to their kindred in Tennessee and moved to Nodaway Co., Mo., remaining there till the spring of 1860, when they came to Chase, then Breckenridge Co., Kansas, locating on Sharp's creek in the fall of 1861. Her husband died, leaving her in very poor circumstances, with a large and almost helpless family to provide for. By industry and economical management she kept her family together till they were able to take care of themselves. She was always ready to help the deserving poor.
A good neighbor and a kind mother, she suffered for several years previous to her death with inflammatory rheumatism, caused by overwork and exposure in early life. she died as she lived the greater part of her life a firm believer in the divine mercy of the Savior of mankind. She leaves behind her a large family of children and grandchildren to mourn her loss. She was buried on the old homestead along side the remains of some of her children and kindred. The early settlers are all passing away, drawing near the shore, waiting for the ferryman to pilot them to the Golden Shore beyond the Jordan.
