Snead, Buddy L

Buddy L. Snead, 72, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Council Grove.

Buddy L. Snead, the son of Harry Edward and Marie Newton Snead, was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Labette County, Kan. He served in the United States Army. He worked as a logger most of his life.

He was married to RosaLee Ann Shoesmith Snead, who preceded him in death and Arlie Ruth Mathis Snead. He married Evangelina Ligaya Cabrere Snead on Sept. 28, 1974. She died June 15, 1997.

He and Evangeline Caballes were married July 5, 2002, in Cebu City, The Phillipines. She survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Buddie L. Snead, II of Minneapolis, Minn. and Daniel Aaron Snead of McPherson; six daughters, Gini Augustine of Ellis, Dora Duffy of Kingsburg, Calif., Cindi George of Strong City, Carla Harlan of Kansas City, Mo., Debbie Joslin of Delta Junction, Alaska and Maria Christina Snead of Minneapolis, Minn.; three sisters, Rose Marie Hughes of Shawnee, Colene Hammond of Austin, Texas and Eula Jean Sayre of Overland Park; a step-son, Lloyd Velez of the home; a step-daughter, Vanessa Velez of the home; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Snead.

Services were Saturday, July 15, at Flint Hills Community Church, Cottonwood Falls, with Pastor Jim Bartsch officiating. Cremation took place following the service. An inurnment service was held Sunday, July 16, at the Elmdale Cemetery, Elmdale. Memorial contributions to Chase County Emergency Service, Education Fund for the children and/or Chase County All-Veterans Memorial may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.Chase County Leader News, Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, Jul 20 2006.
