Soper, Catherine Flora Graham MRS. CATHERINE SOPER DIES HERE
Mrs. Catherine Flora Soper, 86, of Columbus route three, died last night at
6:50 o'clock at the City hospital, where she had been a patient since May
26. She had been in failing health for the past five years.
Born March 16, 1875, the daughter of W.L. and Mary Graham at Centerview,
Mo., Mrs. Soper moved with her parents to Cedar Point, Kans., when she was a small child, and grew to womanhood there. She and John Ash Soper of Cedar
Point were married Dec. 8, 1893. They lived in Cedar Point for two years
before moving to Cherokee county in 1895. They settled two and one-half
miles east of Columbus in the Stoney district. Mr. Soper preceded his wife
in death in 1946.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Cedar Point.
Survivors include Mrs. Mary Hewitt, Columbus route two; four sons, Glen
Soper and Bill Soper, Columbus route two, and Earl Soper and Sam Soper,
Columbus route four; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Green of Claremore, Oklahoma;
12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Ruhland-Mudock
chapel. The Rev. Arthur Shawgo will officiate. Burial will be in the
Columbus city cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home.
