Spinden, William S "Bill" William "Bill" Spinden, 81, of Strong City, died Sat., Oct. 22, 2005, at the Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cottonwood Falls.
William S. Spinden, the son of Samuel and Ethel Gray Spinden, was born June 11, 1924, at Burns. He worked for Cities Services in El Dorado until 1968. He, then, moved his family to Collins, Colo., where he farmed and was a carpenter in Colorado until 1994. He moved back to Kansas to farm with his brother, John. He, then, met and married Rosa Bechtel
Powell of Olpe on Oct. 30, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa, of the home; four children, Steve Spinden of Delta, Colo., Dan Spinden and Kathy Winter of Fort Collins, Colo. and Linda Knaack of Wellington, Colo. and their mother, Ruth Spinden of Wellington, Colo.; six grandchildren; a brother,
John Spinden of Cottonwood Falls; and two sisters, Mary Beth Collett of Marion and Helen June Countryman of Wichita.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two
brothers, Fred Spinden and Chalmers Spinden; and a sister Ruth Ferro.
Services were held at the Cottonwood Falls United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Oct. 26, with the Rev. Mic McGuire of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed at Ebenezer Cemetery in Burns.
