Stephenson, T G

T.G. Stephenson, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at the Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Cottonwood Falls.

T. G. Stephenson Jr., the son of Tanner Gay and Mayette Cecile Amos Stephenson, was born May 22, 1922, at Kansas City, Kan.

He married Margaret "Peggy" A. Miller on Dec. 1, 1946, at Cottonwood Falls. He served as a Lieutenant in the Naval Air Corps during World War II. He was a farmer, retiring 19 years ago. He was a member of the Elmdale United Methodist Church, Zeredatha Masonic Lodge #80 A.F. & A.M., Zeta Chi Fraternity at Baker University and the Chase County American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Tanner Stephenson of Wichita; two daughters, Sally Sauceda of Kansas City, Mo. and Betsy Stephenson of Decator, Ga.; a sister, Mary Gay Stephenson of Columbia, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Stephenson; and a daughter, Celia Stephenson. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Brown-BennettAlexander Funeral Home, Cottonwood Falls. The Rev. John Hastings and The Rev. Seth Davidson co-officiated.

Interment was at Miller Cemetery in rural Chase County with Masonic service by Zeredatha Masonic Lodge #80 A.F. & A.M. and military honors by a Fort Riley Honor Guard. Memorial contributions to the Elmdale United Methodist Church may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
