Stubenhofer, John
John Stubenhofer, resident of Chase county for the past 57 years, died suddenly at his home in Strong City at 6:30 Tuesday morning. Mr. Stubenhofer had suffered from asthma for several years but did not appear to be more affected than usual. While sitting in the kitchen he told Mrs. Stubenhofer he would have to go out-doors to get more air. He started to get up and collapsed. Death occurred in a few minutes before a physician could be called.>
The funeral service will be held from the St. Anthony's Catholic church in Strong City at 9:00 o'clock Thursday morning. Father Faber will be in charge of the service. Interment will be in the Strong City Catholic cemetery.
Mr. Stubenhofer was born in Erie, Pa., Dec. 26th., 1861. He came to Chase county in 1876 with his parents. He was married to Miss Frances Cahoone in November, 1869. He homesteaded a farm on Prairie Hill southwest of this city. Later he purchased a farm west of Strong City which he still owns and where his son, Paul Stubenhofer, lives. In 1921, Mr. and Mrs. Stubenhofer moved to Strong City.
Besides his widow, Mr. Stubenhofer is survived by his son, Paul, and one grandchild. He also leaves two brothers and five sisters, William Stubenhofer, Mrs. D. W. Foxworthy, Mrs. Henry Wiebrecht, Sr., all of Strong City; Mrs. Clarence Baldwin
and Mrs. William Daub, of this place, and Mrs. William Rockwood, of Topeka. One brother, Joe Stubenhofer, lives in Pennsylvania.
Mr. and Mrs. Stubenhofer were the parents of two children, one of whom. Mrs. Eugene Gamer, is dead.
