Sweet, Hilda Mary Hilda Mary Sweet, 92, of
Emporia died Feb. 21,
2004, at Jones Health Care
Center.
She grew up in
Saffordville and graduated
from Toledo Township High
School in Saffordville. She
was a homemaker and a
caregiver for family members.
Hilda Mary North, the
daughter of Tom and
Florence Elizabeth Jackson
North, was born July 9,
1911, in McDonald County,
Mo. She married William
A. Sweet in Saffordville
Feb. 8, 1931. Mrs. Sweet
lived in Coffeyville, Mound
City and Newton before
moving to Emporia in 1996.
She was a member of the
Saffordville United
Methodist Church and the
Order of the Eastern Star
Chapter #5 of Newton.
She was preceded in
death by her parents, husband on Nov. 24, 1959,
infant son, William Leigh
Sweet and a brother. She is
survived by one daughter,
Edith Garrison and one
son, Robert Sweet, both of
Emporia; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were
held at the Flint Hills
Christian Church,
Emporia, Feb. 24, 2004.
Pastors Ken Burns and
Sam McVay conducted the
service with a special message by Scott Garrison.
Graveside services were
conducted by O.E.S.
Chapter #5 at the
Greenwood Cemetery,
Newton.
