Thompson, Helen
Helen Thompson, 92, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at Newman Regional Health, Emporia. A Celebration of Her Life Service was held July 10, 2004, at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Chapel in Cottonwood Falls. The Rev. John Hastings officiated. The Order of the Eastern Star Service was conducted by the Falls Chapter #25. Interment was at Prairie Grove
Cemetery, Cottonwood
Falls.
Helen Fisher, the daughter of John Paul Karl and Helen Selma Hengesbach Fisher, was born Nov. 7, 1911, in Marion County.
She married Ralph E. Thompson on July 22, 1931, in Baldwin City. They lived on a farm on Diamond Creek, Chase County. He died Dec. 4, 1982, and she continued to live on that farm until the last few years.
She was a member of the Elmdale United Methodist Church since she was 14 years old and was a 63-year member of the Falls Chapter #25 Order of the Eastern Star. She was active at the Senior Center in Cottonwood Falls.
She is survived by three daughters, Rosa Joan Brown, Cottonwood Falls, Christa Lee Cooper of
Albuquerque, N.M. and Selma Edna Keller of Emporia; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Julia Fagg of Emporia and Clara Burke of Homeland, Calif.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Floyd, Karl and Tom Fisher; and two sisters, Dagmar Sherer and Marianna Westerman.
Memorials are to the Chase County Senior Center or Elmdale United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, P.O. Box 220, Cottonwood Falls, Kansas 66845.
