Titus, Cecil Owen Cecil Owen Titus, 74, of Virgil died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at the Life Care Center of Burlington in Burlington.
The son of
Durward L. and
Veda Folck Titus,
he was born April
3, 1931, in
Conway. He grew up in Conway and graduated from high school in Little River.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
In 1954, he moved to Virgil and became the owner of Titus Well Service. He retired in the mid-1990s.
He married Betty Smith on Dec. 14, 1957, in Miami, Okla. They lived in Virgil. She survives.
Mr. Titus was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 2712 of Eureka and the American Legion in Toronto.
He is also survived by three sons, Steve Titus of Red Oak, Texas, Pete Titus of Virgil and Rick Titus of Princeton; two daughters, Debbie Johnson of Madison and Sandy Ashlock of Virgil; 11 grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; a brother, Alfred Titus of Cottonwood Falls; and two sisters, Maxine Phillips of Galva and Patty McDonald of Arkansas City.
His parents, one brother and three sisters died earlier.
The funeral was Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at the Virgil United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mark Demas officiated.
Instead of flowers, the family prefers contributions to a memorial in his name with the Alzheimer's Association, sent in care of Koup Funeral Home, PO Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045.
