Tyner, Carol Berends

Carol Berends Tyner, 64, of Topeka, died July 18, 2003, at her home in Topeka.

She was born on Sept. 14, 1938, at Strong City, the daughter of Harry and Maude Odle Berends. She graduated from Matfield Green High School in 1956. Shortly after graduating she moved to Topeka. Carol attended Clark's Business School. She worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka for over 44 years before retiring in 2000. Mrs. Tyner was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Topeka where she volunteered in the nursery. Carol was also a member of the Topeka Genealogy Society.

Carol married Alvin Tyner on April 11, 1959, at Cedar Valley Baptist Church in Homestead Community in Chase County. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Pamela L. Tyner of Topeka; a son, Ronald L. Tyner of Topeka; two sisters, Wilma Roberts, North Carolina and Margery Berends, Oklahoma; and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held July 22, 2003, at First Assembly of God Church in Topeka. Graveside services and interment were at Homestead Cemetery near Clements.
