Waggy, Sherwood

Sherwood Waggy, 86, died April 7, 2004.

Sherwood, the son of Chester and Lenora Waggy, was born Oct. 14, 1917, in Burns. He grew up west of Burns, one mile north of the Pleasant Center Cemetery. He attended school in Burns. On July 12, 1939, he married Fern Marjorie McIntosh in Cottonwood Falls.

He spent most of his life as a rancher. He loved raising horses and working outdoors. He is survived by two sons, Ronald of Cheney and Rex of Burns; a brother, Clyde of El Dorado; four sisters, Alice Wilber of El Dorado, Dorothy Whister of Peabody, Betty McClay of Ottawa and Bernice Behrendt from Indiana; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Roger.

The funeral service was April 10, 2004, at the Zeiner Funeral Home in Florence, with Rev. Wayne Handle officiating. Burial was at the Burns Cemetery, Burns. Memorials in Sherwood's name can be made to the Florence Ambulance Service in care of the funeral home, 104 W. 5th, Florence, KS 66851.
