Died, at her home at Turner, Wyandotte County, Kansas, Mrs. Martha Walters, wife of Simon Walters, one of the oldest residents of Chase County.
The deceased was born in Culpepper County, Virginia, March 4, 1844, and came to Kansas with her father, Dennis Peyton, who settled near the mouth of Peyton creek, about 1857.
She married Simon Walters, September 12, 1864, and they remained in Chase County until 1871, whence they moved to Wyandotte County, where they have lived since that time.
She was the mother of eight childrensix boys and two girls, seven of whom survive her and with her husband mourn her loss.
The deceased was a member of the Christian church, having joined that church at about eighteen years of age and was baptized by Elder Brown, at that time holding a meeting in Chase County. She has remained a consistent member of that church until her death, which occurred on April 28, 1895, the funeral being preached by Elder H. R. Cash, of Kansas City.
