Watson, Andrew Davis

Andrew Davis Watson was born in Bucklin, Mo., May 10, 1870 and died at the home of his sister, Mrs. W. A. Haney near Elmdale, Kans., on May 18, 1906.

He grew to manhood at his home in Missouri and on Jan. 26, 1892 was married to Miss Belle Bunch of Brookfield, Mo. Three children were born to this union.

He united with the Christian Church at Marceline, Mo., in 1899 and remained a member till the time of his death. Seven years ago he moved to Oklahoma City where he resided until his health having failed in Nov. 1906 he went to New Mexico for change of climate. There he improved for a short time and then was taken suddenly worse and the decline has been steady ever since.

He came to Elmdale, Kans., May 8, 1906, and failed very rapidly till death relieved him of his suffering. He died calmly and peacefully, wholly resigned to the will of God.

He leaves three children, a father and mother, two brothers and two sisters to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held at the Union school house, on Saturday afternoon, May 19, and were conducted in a comforting and impressive manner by the Rev. Mehl. He was laid to rest in the Elk Cemetery.

Sweetly fell asleep in Jesus
At the breaking of the day
To waken in the land of glory
Where all tears are wiped away.

God prepared for him a mansion
Far away from earthly pain
Now his life of suffering's over
And our loss is his great gain.

When our pilgrimage is over
And we reach the shining shore
In the glory of God's presence
We shall meet to part no more.
