West, Anna Amelia Talbot
Anna Amelia Talbot was born in Chester county, Penn.,March 22 1851, and died at her home near Hartford,Kansas, December 5, 1919.
She moved with her parents to Andrew county, Mo., when about twelve years old and here was married to A. M. West, September 2, 1873. After this they lived in several different places but most of their married life was spent in Hutchinson and Cottonwood Falls.
To this union four Children were
born, Charles T. West, Hartford, Kansas; Walter W. West, Emporia, Kans.; Mrs. Hugh Finley, Cottonwood Falls; and Frank M. West of the home address, all of whom were at her bedside. She also left eight grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers.
She joined the First M. E. Church when a girl in school and always lived a consistent, christian life, taking great delight in helping in all departments of the church.
Her sunny bright disposition always made friends of all her acquaintances and none knew but to love her. She was a great sufferer the last two years of her life but never complained and was ready and willing to answer the call.
The funeral services were held in this city at the M. E. Church last Saturday afternoon, Dec. 6th. Dr. Harry C. Case, of Ottawa, who was Mrs. West's former pastor when the West family lived in this city, preached the sermon, after which interment was made in Prairie Grove Cemetery just west of this city.
Mrs. West's death has brought deep regret to the many friends and former neighbors who knew her so well when she and her family lived in this city, while the great sorrow to the bereaved husband and children must indeed be deep over the loss of such a faithful wife and loving mother as she was.
