West, Walter W
Walter West died about 6:30 o'clock Monday evening at his home in Emporia following a long illness.
The funeral services were held at 9:00 o'clock Wednesday morning at the sacred Heart Catholic Church after which interment was made in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Emporia. Father Osmond, of Emporia, was in charge of the funeral service.
For many years Mr. West lived in this city during the time he and his brother, Chas. West, and their father operated the lumber yard here. Later he and his brother engaged in the hardware business for a number of years here.
The Walter West family moved from this city to Emporia in 1912, which city had since been their home. Mr. West had for a good many years been a traveling salesman for a wholesale hardware company and had followed this work until last summer when the condition of his health made it necessary for him to discontinue active work. His death was caused by cancer. He had recently returned from the Mayo Brothers Hospital at Rochester, Minn., where he had undergone an examination.
Walter West was born May 30th 1877 at Hutchinson, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Miss Rose Daubs in Strong City in 1902. To this union three children were born, two of whom with his wife survive. The oldest daughter, Miss Vera West died in the spring of 1924. The other daughter is now Mrs. Seleck Warren and the son is Asahel West. Mr. West is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Hugh Finley, of this city; and two brothers who are Charles West and Frank West, both of Hartford, Kansas.
Walter West was a member of the Catholic Church and of the United Commercial Travelers and the Elks Lodge.
His death will bring sorrow to his many friends and formerneighbors of this city who knew him so well during the years he lived here.

Brother of Mrs. Hugh Finley Had
Been Sick for the Past
Ten Months.
Walter W. West of Emporia, well known to many Chase County peopre and a brother of Mrs. Hugh Finley of Cottonwood Falls, died Monday night at 6:30 o'clock at his home in Emporia. He had been sick 10 months.
Funeral services were held this. (Wednesday) morning at 9 o'clock at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Emporia and interment was in the Sacred Heart cemetery.
Walter W. West was born May 30, 1877, at Hutchinson. He was married in 1902 to Rose Daubs at Strong City. Mr. West was in the hardware business for many years and for the past 18 years he has been traveling with a hardware?
He is survived by his widow, one daughter Mrs. Seleck B Warren of Emporia;
one son, Asahel West, of Emporia; one sister, Mrs. E. H. Finley, of Cottonwood Falls, and two brothers, C. T. West aud Frank West, of Hartford. Mr. West was a member of the Catholic church, the United Commercial Travelers, and the Elks lodge. He brought his framily to Emporia in 1914.
